Human Resource Manager
The Human Resources office at Cherokee SO offers employees and applicants a one-stop-shop for available benefits and compensation available as employees of Cherokee County. The HR office assists with recruitment, on-boarding, benefit concerns as well as staffing concerns from salary to Workman’s Compensation. The CSO HR office works in tandem with Cherokee Co. HR department.

CSO attends job fairs across the state, speaks to cadets at local police academies, and visits colleges in an attempt to recruit qualified applicants to apply for employment.
Civilian and sworn applicants go through a very similar application process.
Step 1: All applicants must submit an application via mail or in person (498 Chattin Drive Canton GA 30115), fax (678-493-4187) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Step 2: Successful completion of the basic skills test offered once a month at CSO Headquarters, applicants receive an email with testing information after applications have been processed. Sworn applicants must also complete a physical agility test on this day.
Step 3: When an applicant successfully completes this initial testing part of the process, a background booklet must be completed which serves as an initial background overview.
Step 3: After the initial background clearance, applicants then sit before an interview board comprised of five individuals.
Step 4: Assuming the applicant is recommended to continue in the process, a conditional job will be extended with the conditions that the applicant passes a physical, psychological, polygraph, and thorough background investigation.
The Sheriff and Chief enjoy meeting with applicants and sit down with each conditional applicant during their hiring process.
Step 5: Applicants who successfully complete the preceding steps are then offered a position and start date.
Step 6: Newly hired employees go through an orientation process and begin their careers as members of the CSO Team.
