Missing Juvenile Located

Canton, Cherokee County GA. June 29, 2010 - Following an anonymous tip Monday evening, Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Investigators located the 16 year old runaway that had been missing for approximately 2 weeks. Investigators were given an address that the juvenile was possibly staying at in Forsyth County. While waiting for Forsyth County authorities to arrive at the location, detectives observed a vehicle leaving the location. They blocked the vehicle and found the juvenile hiding inside the car.

The driver of the vehicle, William David Gowdy, 31 years old of Cumming, has been charged with Interference with Custody and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. He remains in custody at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center without bond. It appears that the juvenile, who did not know Gowdy, willingly entered his vehicle and has been staying at his home since June 18th. There is no indication that the juvenile was being held against her will. She was arrested for Runaway and Unruly Child. She is currently in custody at the Paulding Youth Detention Center.
