Highway 140 Obstruction

Canton, Cherokee County, Georgia 23 September 2010 - The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office had received several reports of unknown persons who had been obstructing Highway 140 near Waleska. The obstructions consisted of tree limbs, rocks, tires, glass, nails and stolen road signs. The impediment of the roadway occurred over several months and caused severe damage to 3 vehicles.

Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Deputies began nighttime surveillance on the roadway. During the surveillance 17 year old Brandon Thomas Alford and a Juvenile walked to the intersection of Georgia Highway 140 and Garland Mountain Road. Deputies interviewed the subjects and upon investigating the incident the subjects were arrested on the incident that occurred on 9-21-2010 (the previous night) The Criminal Investigation Division is reviewing the prior incident reports and the case remains open.

The 17 year old arrested is identified as Brandon Thomas Alford, he is charged with Reckless Conduct, Terroristic Acts, Criminal Damage to Property, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is currently in the Cherokee County Jail bond in this case is $13,240.

The Juvenile is charged with Reckless Conduct, Terroristic Acts, Criminal Damage to Property, and Unruly child. The Department of Juvenile Justice was notified and the child was released to his parents.
