Nelms Deputy Sheriff

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. December 21, 2010 - Tuesday afternoon Cherokee County Sheriff Roger Garrison swore in Cherokee County Commissioner Jason Nelms as a deputy sheriff. Nelms, who is already a POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) certified peace officer, completed the Georgia Game and Fish Ranger School in 1996 after graduating from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in 1995. Nelms later obtained an M.B.A. from Kennesaw State University in 2008. He is also a POST certified instructor in Defensive Tactics and Firearms. Nelms was elected the Post 4 Commissioner in 2010.

“We look forward to working closely with Commissioner Nelms in the years to come. He brings with him a wealth of public safety knowledge and experience in public service that will benefit our agency as well as the citizens of Cherokee County”.
