Detective Weber was selected by the Sergeants of CID as the 2002 Moose Lodge Employee of the Year for the Criminal Investigation Division. One particular incident demonstrates the level of performance and continuous dedication to her chosen profession that rises to the level of Meritorious Service. At the end of 2001 and during the beginning of 2002, CID received repeated reports of thefts and assaults from one particular victim. In the true spirit of community oriented policing, Detective Weber took the initiative to get to know the victim, and meet with him at his home to determine a way of assisting in crime prevention. After developing suspects and locating them in jail, Detective Weber began receiving regular phone calls from the victim. Upon her return from vacation, she did not find any messages from him, and did not receive any over the next week. Due to the victim's alcohol abuse and high-risk lifestyle, his family had discontinued regular contact with him. Detective Weber did not allow this to shield her compassion from him. Fearing something may have happed to the victim, Det. Weber took her Lieutenant to the victim's home, and found what she feared. The victim had died and no one had missed him. It is this type of compassion, personal commitment, and personal involvement over that past 12 months that qualifies Det. Weber for this award. |
