Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. December 12, 2001. Deputies and family members of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office came together to recognize their piers for commendable actions they have taken in the year 2001. A committee of Supervisors within the agency chose the award recipients. The committee looked at the performance of the agency's deputies that performed outstanding acts in the line of duty this past year. All award recipients were presented with a plaque of recognition for their efforts. The Sheriff proudly announces the recipients:
Sheriff's Certificate of Appreciation- Sergeant Mike Sweat, Corporal Frank Reynolds, Deputy Scott Ryder, Deputy John New, Sergeant Lynn Chastain, Deputy Steven Baker, Corporal Clint Thompson, Corporal Michael Daniel, Detective Pam Weber, Detective Mike Painter, Deputy Mike Nelson, Deputy Leo Schrader. The civilians that received the award are as follows Mr.Billy Boyd, Mr. Marvin Bryan.
Sheriff's Commendation Award- Sergeant Michael Sweat, Deputy Geoff Buynowski, Detective Jeanette Vetter, Sergeant Bryan Burdett, Deputy Charlie Frizzell. The civilians that received the award are as follows Ms. Andrea Chadwick, Mr. Patrick Brown and Ms. Danielle Thompson.
Community Crime Prevention Award- Detective Joe McDonald.
Sheriff's Life Saving Award- Corporal James Gianfala, Deputy Danny Higgins, Corporal Jeremy Seagraves, Lt. Ken Locke, Deputy Terry Thurman, Deputy John Burns, Deputy Autumn Allen. The civilian to receive the award is Ms. Debbie Smith.
Sheriff's Citation for Meritorious Service- Deputy Danny Higgins. The civilian to receive this award is Mr. John Holbrook.
Employee Sustained Superior Performance- Investigator Feder and Investigator Steve Thompson.
