Press Release Arrest of Armed Robbery Suspects

May 3, 2002

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. May 3, 2002. On May 1, 2002, deputies of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to an armed robbery call at the Wachovia bank in Freehome. A white male, approximately 30 years in age, gave a note to the teller of the bank demanding an undisclosed amount of money. As the suspect left the bank, tellers were able to get a description of the suspect's car in the parking lot. The car was located and recovered by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The crime processing on the suspect's car gave the Sheriff's Office and FBI investigators enough information to lead to an arrest.

Chris Stafford, 38 years of age, of Carthage Tennessee is currently being charged by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office with armed robbery. Charges are pending through the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Stafford is being held without bond at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
