Press Release Serious Injury Car Crash

May 8, 2002

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. May 8, 2002. At approximately 5:00 p.m. Monday deputies from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to a serious injury car crash that occurred on Bells Ferry Road. Sergeant M. Pendergast and Deputy Sheriff Melissa Harris of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit are investigating the car crash.

The car crash occurred on Bells Ferry Road in front of Shadowood Mobile Home Park. A green Ford Explorer was turning onto Bells Ferry Road from Shadowood when the cars crashed. The second car involved was a red Chevy pickup truck traveling in the southbound lane of Bells Ferry Road.

The driver of the green Explorer, Miguel Garcia, 38 years of age of Acworth, Ga. was life-flighted to Atlanta Medical Center where he sustained serious injuries. The driver of the red Chevy pickup truck, Loring Durrance, 46 years of age of Acworth, Ga. was treated and released on the scene of the crash.
