Press Release Serious Injury

May 15, 2002

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. May 15, 2002. On Wednesday morning at approximately 8:30 a.m., The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a vehicle crash with possible serious injury.

The crash occurred on Highway 20 one mile west of Highway 108. A red dump truck traveling west on Highway 20 sideswiped a green pickup truck pulling a U-Haul trailer. The crash of the two vehicles sent the dump truck head on into a tractor-trailer.

The driver of the red dump truck, Dickie Archer 50 years old of Buford, Ga. was transported to Cartersville Hospital. The driver of the green pickup truck, Stanley Brittan, 58 years of age of Austell and the passenger were transported to Northside Cherokee Hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer, Jason Meister, 28 years of age of Baldwin, Ga. was also transported to Northside Cherokee Hospital.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit will be investigating the vehicle crash.
