Press Release Fatal Car Crash

May 31, 2002

Ball Ground, Cherokee County, Ga. May 31, 2002. At approximately 6:00 p.m. on May 30, 2002 deputies from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal car crash. The crash occurred at the intersection of Old Highway 5 and Fairview Road. A red Cavalier was turning onto Old Highway 5 from Fairview Road when the car struck a red Chevy Astrovan traveling southbound on Old Highway 5.

Myrtle Collis of Ball Ground was killed when her Cavalier crashed into the red Astrovan. The driver of the Astrovan, Melissa Ippich, 30 years of age, of Ball Ground sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the fatal car crash.
