Press Release Arrest

June 6, 2002

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. June 6, 2002. On May 18, 2002 a victim living in Cherokee County filed a police report about fraudulent checks clearing his bank account. The victim reported to Detective Burt Love that 16 checks passed against his account from the Dallas, TX area. The checks totaled approximately $9,000. The suspect passed the counterfeit checks using a fake ID that contained the license number and the date of birth of the victim.

Detective Love worked with loss prevention departments from the stores where the checks were passed. The investigation led to the arrest of Broderick Wiley, 25 years of age, of Texas. Wiley is being charged with 16 counts of Financial Identity Fraud. He is currently in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
