Press Release Arrest

June 19, 2002

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. June 19, 2002. On June 18, 2002 at approximately 8:30 p.m. Lt. Steve Edwards and Investigator Todd Hicks of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office arrested Glenn Edward Jacobs in Gwinnett County. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division has been investigating a burglary and motor vehicle theft that occurred in Cherokee County. During the investigation, it was discovered that the prime suspect in the incident was an escapee from the North Carolina Department of Prisons where he has been on the run since November 1999. He was in prison in North Carolina for armed robbery.

The investigation led detectives to the whereabouts of Jacobs in Gwinnett County. Upon verification of the suspect, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office along with the Gwinnett County Fugitive Squad arrested Jacobs. Jacobs, 39 years of age, of Waleska, Ga. is currently being held in the Cherokee Adult Detention Center on charges of burglary and theft by taking. His bond is set for Cherokee County at $32,230 and is being held for the North Carolina Department of Prisons.
