Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. June 25, 2002.
At approximately 7:15 p.m. on June 24, 2002 deputies from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal car crash that occurred on Highway 20 at Charles Cobb Drive.
A blue Chrysler van was traveling eastbound on Highway 20 when it crashed into a gold Mazda Protege traveling westbound on Highway 20. Upon impact, the van went down an approximate 15-foot embankment.
Trina White, 41 years of age of Canton, the driver of the Chrysler van, sustained serious injuries and was life flighted to Grady Hospital. The first passenger of the van, Steven White, five years of age died upon impact of the crash. The second passenger of the van was White's six-year-old son who was life-flighted to Scottish Rite Hospital where he sustained serious injuries.
Michele Green, 46 years of age, of Roswell, Ga. the driver of the Mazda Protégé, sustained minor injuries and was transported with one other passenger to Northside Cherokee Hospital. The other two passengers of the car were treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the fatal car crash.
