Press Release Aggravated Assault

June 25, 2002

Acworth, Cherokee County, Ga. June 25, 2002. At approximately 10:30 p.m. on June 24, 2002 the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to 3389 Highway 92 in reference to a person being shot. Upon arrival, the deputies did not find anyone at the scene of the alleged crime. Deputies did find evidence that there had been some type of struggle and proceeded to investigate the situation. Cherokee County 911 was alerted that a person with a gunshot wound, which reportedly occurred in Cherokee County, was currently at a Cobb County Police precinct. Detectives from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division went to Cobb County to interview the alleged victim. The person shot is identified as Robert Eugene DePuy, 37 years of age of Woodstock, Ga.. DePuy received a gunshot wound to his upper body and is currently at Kennestone Hospital in stable condition. Detectives have learned through their investigation that DePuy was allegedly shot by Roger Lynn Huskins over a property dispute. Huskins is 30 years of age of Acworth. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office currently has warrants for the arrest of Huskins on the charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
