Press Release Arrest

July 11, 2002

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. July 11, 2002. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office announces the arrest of Jamerson Nash Mangrum, 17 years of age, of Canton, Ga. on charges of statutory rape, child molestation, cruelty to children, false statement and possession of marijuana. Mangrum was being questioned in the death of Katie Hamlin. Mangrum is currently being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. Mangrum's bond is set at $74,650.

No other charges have been filed in the case. Investigators for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office are still investigating the cause of death and are following up on all leads regarding the case.
