Press Release First Anniversary of September 11 (9/11)

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. August 21, 2002. Earlier this morning, Sheriff Roger Garrison and the Chiefs of Police from Ball Ground Police Department, the Canton Police Department, the Cherokee County School Police, Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotic Squad, the Holly Springs Police Department and the Woodstock Police Department met to discuss the upcoming 9/11 anniversary. The mission of the meeting was to establish a unified County Law Enforcement effort in security during events of 9/11. Agencies reviewed and updated contingency plans, critical incident procedures, officer recall policies and the off-duty officer staging. Specific information of what type of security and where law enforcement will focus their efforts cannot be released due to the possibility of the security objectives being compromised. Sheriff Roger Garrison as well as the other County Law Enforcement agencies wants the county and every 9/11 event to be as safe and secure as possible. Citizens of Cherokee County should feel at ease in the unified effort law enforcement is taking concerning the County's safety during the first anniversary of this tragic event.
