Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. September 23, 2002The Cherokee County Criminal Investigations Division is looking for a second perpetrator being charged in incident involving the girl found beaten in the woods on Upper Sweetwater Trail, September 12, 2002. The victim called 911 from a cell phone in hopes authorities would be able to locate and help her.
Interviews of witnesses and the victim of the cell phone incident gave The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Detectives enough evidence to swear a warrant against Jason Allen Padgett, 20 years of age of Acworth, Ga on charges of Kidnapping with Serious Bodily Injury. Padgett is believed to be in the Bartow County, Acworth area or possibly the Paulding County area.
