Press Release Arrest

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. October 2, 2002  On September 16, 2002 Deputy Sheriff Matt Azaroff and Deputy Sheriff Jeff Donley from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to Clover Glen Mobile Home Park in reference to a bad check.

During the pat down, incident to arrest, deputies obtained information from the suspect that he had been taking mail from local mailboxes. The suspect admitted to taking mail from subdivisions including Sturbridge, Merrimont, Bascomb Carmel Road and the 6000 block of Bells Ferry Road. Detective Weber and Detective Ledford from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division were able to ascertain 40-60 people were victims of mailbox theft over the past few weeks. During further investigation, Detectives Weber and Ledford discovered several stolen checks, stolen credit cards and two burglaries had occurred in relation to this case.

Investigation led to three arrests. One 15-year-old juvenile from Woodstock was arrested on charges of truancy, unruly child and 39 counts of theft by taking. The juvenile is currently being held at the Paulding County Juvenile Detention Center.

Robert Osborne, 18 years of age of Woodstock, was charged with three counts of financial transaction card fraud, forgery in the 1st degree and 41 counts of theft by taking. Osborne is currently being held at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center. His bond is set at $36,417.60.

Michael Hatch, 31 years of age of Woodstock, Ga was arrested on charges of three counts financial transaction card fraud, forgery in the 1st degree and 41 counts of theft by taking. Hatch is currently being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. His bond is set at $29,200.
