Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. October 28, 2002  On October 24, 2002, Deputy Sheriff Carl Pope and Deputy Sheriff Randy Guite of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office conducted a motor vehicle stop at Wade Green Road and Hopgood Road.

After initiating the traffic stop, D/S Pope ran a license check on the driver of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle had an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction. The driver of the vehicle, Jerry Lee Brotherton, Jr. of Acworth, Ga was arrested for the outstanding warrant and a speeding charge through the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

D/S Pope and D/S Guite performed a search of the vehicle incident to arrest when they recovered $20,541 in cash, three handguns, 5oz of Crystal Methamphetamine, 34 grams of Marijuana, hundreds of Ecstasy tabs, and a large amount of steroids.

Brotherton was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, two counts of Possession of a Schedule III drug, three counts of Possession of Firearm during the commission of Felony, Possession of a Schedule I Drug and Speeding. Brotherton is currently being held at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center with no bond.
