Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. November 26, 2002 At approximately 1:00 p.m. the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to Towne Lake Hills across from the Fairways Subdivision, in regards to a person that had drowned.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division is conducting a death investigation concerning the accidental drowning.
Two Hispanic males were diving for golf balls in the pond at hole #8 at the Towne Lake Hills Country Club. The males were using an air compressor as an oxygen supply when one of the males got cold and came up for air. The male noticed his friend had not come up for air yet and went down to the bottom to pull him up to the surface. The second male died in the incident. The preliminary investigation is showing the death as an accidental drowning.
