Lummus Arrest

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. December 9, 2002   On December 8, 2002, Deputy Sheriff Will Rownd of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to East Cherokee Drive to assist another agency. Upon arrival, D/S Rownd observed two Department of Natural Resource officers detaining two suspects for illegal dumping. One of the suspects fled into the woods once he saw the Cherokee Sheriff's Office car pull onto the scene. D/S Rownd was able to catch up to the suspect and place him under arrest. The suspect was patted down for contraband and weapons. A .38 caliber pistol was found on the suspect. The officers involved also recovered methamphetamine off the suspect.

The first suspect, Tony Lummus, 30 years of age of Waleska, is charged with; possession of methamphetamine, possession of a tool for the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon, theft by receiving stolen property, giving false name and date of birth to a police officer and obstruction. Lummus is currently being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a bond set at $52, 260.

The second suspect, Kenneth Bagwell, 43 years of age of Canton is charged with possession of methamphetamine. Bagwell has been released on $11,050 bond.
