Ball Ground, Cherokee County, Ga. December 27, 2002 At approximately 3:00 pm., December 23, 2002, The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit responded to a fatal car crash on Highway 5 at Jordan Road.
A Ford Taurus was traveling north on Highway 5 when a red dump truck was attempting to make a left turn off of Jordan Road onto Highway 5. The dump truck hit the passenger side of the Taurus killing the passenger.
The driver of the Taurus, Robbie Jeans, 53 years of age of Canton, Ga did not sustain serious injury, but was taken to Northside Cherokee Hospital for evaluation. The passenger, Mary Hunt, 35 years of age of Jasper, Ga. died at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the dump truck, Johnny Thompson, 46 years of age of Canton, Ga did not sustain serious injuries but was transported to Northside Cherokee Hospital for evaluation.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the fatal car crash.
