Terroristic Threats Arrest

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. December 30, 2002   On December 27, 2002, Deputies from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to the McDonald's at 2105 TowneLake Parkway regarding threats received from a customer.

After meeting with the victim, deputies received information the suspect/customer had gone through the drive thru window earlier and tried to pay for his order with a ripped one hundred dollar bill. The management of McDonald's attempted to verify the bill was not counterfeit. The suspect/customer became upset with the management and left. The suspect/customer went home and called the customer service hotline for McDonald's to file a complaint. During the recorded phone call, the suspect/customer made threats to damage the McDonald's and injure the employees working.

Investigators at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division secured a warrant for Terroristic Threats against Richard Demeritt, 35 years of age of Woodstock, Ga. Demeritt turned himself in at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. Demeritt had a bond of $5,550.
