Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. March 5, 2003 At approximately 10:00 pm., March 4, 2003, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit responded to a fatal car crash on Highway 20 near Scott Road.
A Green Ford Escort, traveling west, and a van traveling eastbound on Highway 20 crashed. Preliminary investigation of the crash indicates the green Escort crossed over the center line and hit the oncoming van.
The driver of the Green Escort, Megan Nicole Shunk, 22 years of age of Canton, Ga. died at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the van, Cynthia Camp, 42 years of age of Gainesville, Ga sustained serious injuries and was transported to Kennestone Hospital. The passenger of the van, a juvenile, sustained serious injuries and was also transported to Kennestone Hospital.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the fatal car crash.
