Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. May 5, 2003 On Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at approximately at 7:00 a.m. Lori Ann Engeldinger and Robert Lee Eley, Jr. entered Town Lake Fitness Center. Engeldinger walked past the counter as if she were looking for someone. Eley approached the desk and distracted the only attendant working. While the attendant was distracted Engeldinger took keys from the courtesy keyboard at the center. Engeldinger and Eley then left taking the victim's silver 2000 Audi. The victim left her purse in her vehicle before entering the Fitness Center.
After leaving the fitness center the suspect's Engeldinger and Eley parked the stolen vehicle in an apartment parking lot approximately one mile from the Fitness Center. The suspect's emptied the victim's purse taking her credit cards and other personal property.
The suspect's Engeldinger and Eley then went to several businesses where they obtained goods and services with the victim's credit cards and checks. The full amount obtained by the suspect's has not been determined.
The suspect's were identified after the suspect's gave an alert business one of the victim's checks. Engeldinger was located and arrested in Cobb County by Cobb County Police Department. Engeldinger faces charges of Burglary and theft by taking a motor vehicle in Cherokee County. Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has obtained warrants charging Eley with Party to a crime of Burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.
