Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. June 7, 2003 At approximately 8:00 p.m. people leaving the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center noticed a suspicious male pouring gasoline onto county vehicles located in the Cherokee County Public Safety Personnel parking lot. The citizens reported the incident to jail personnel who were able to detain and place the suspect into custody. An investigation by the Cherokee County Criminal Investigations Division (CID) led detectives to information that the suspect had also damaged a Holly Springs patrol car earlier this evening.
Steven Edwards, Jr, 18 years of age of Peachtree City, Ga. has been charged with five counts of criminal interference with government property, one count of terroristic threats and acts and five counts of 1st degree arson. Edwards is currently being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
