Press Release
2003 Citizen Survey

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. June 11, 2003   A recent Service Quality Assessment conducted by the A.L. Burress Institute at Kennesaw State University found citizens satisfied with the performance of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. According to the survey, 53% of the respondents believe the overall performance of the Sheriff's Office is either good or very good and 82% believe the agency is professional or very professional.

More than 2/3 of the respondents feel safe in their neighborhoods and the same number said the crime rate is low or very low. Respondents were asked to rate traffic safety on a scale of 1-10, where "1" represented very dangerous traffic situation and "10" meant the traffic in their neighborhoods was very safe, the average was 5.93 with only 19% rating traffic safety as a "3" or lower. The report also indicates the Sheriff's Office is doing a good job enforcing traffic laws.

When asked for response times, more than two thirds of respondents that had requested the Sheriff's Office about a safety problem at their residence were very satisfied with the way the Sheriff's Office handled their request.

Sheriff Garrison requested the survey as part of his commitment to excellence and professional performance by members of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and our service to the community.
