Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. June 18, 2003 The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) received a request for investigative assistance from the Nassau County District Attorney's Office, NY and the GBI.
The suspect contacted an undercover officer from Nassau County, posing as a 14 years old child, over the Internet regarding issues of a sexual nature. The GBI was contacted by Nassau County regarding the case and the GBI immediately asked for Cherokee County CID's assistance. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on the suspect's house and computer. The forensic evaluation of the suspect's computer led the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office to make an arrest of the suspect.
Kenneth Donald Cowart, Jr., 30 years of age of Canton, Ga is charged with enticing a minor, furnishing obscene materials to minors and violation of the Georgia Computer Pornography and child exploitation act of 1999 with other charges pending.
