Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. July 14, 2003 The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has made three arrests of suspects involved in at least thirty entering autos incidents occurring primarily in the South end of the county. The incidents occurred after July 9, 2003 with one of the vehicles belonging to a Kennesaw State University Officer. The officer had his duty gear, weapon and badge taken from his vehicle.
Detective Seagraves and Investigator Sims of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) gathered information from a Douglas County Detective regarding the recovery of the Kennesaw State University police officer's gear and weapon. Detectives from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office also received information that the three suspects were also responsible for acts of entering auto in Paulding County and Bartow County. The information CID received led to the arrest of three suspects alleged to have perpetrated these various acts of entering into autos in Cherokee County. Suspects arrested:
Lisa Barnette, 28 years of age of Acworth, Ga is currently charged with four counts of identity fraud and four counts of Forgery in the 2nd degree. Barnette currently has a bond of $88,400. Barnette also has a hold for Cobb County.
James Sutton, 27 years of age of Acworth, Ga is charged with four counts of entering auto, four counts of identity fraud and four counts of Forgery in the 2nd degree. Sutton is currently being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a bond set at $93,950.
Jason Knight, 26 years of age of Acworth, Ga is charged with theft by receiving. Knight is currently out on bond of $5,550.
