Press Release
Pepperball Training

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. August 14, 2003  The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office will hold an instructor-training course on pepperball gun use, Monday, August 18, 2003. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office will use pepperball guns in the new Detention Facility for non-lethal compliance measures that is safe for both the officers and the inmates involved in an altercation. Sheriff Roger Garrison realizes there is a need for an alternative use of force method needed for Detention Officers when an unanticipated situation may arise in the Facility. Because of the need for this non-lethal weapon, Sheriff Garrison is offering a training session for the Sheriff's Office as well as other law enforcement jurisdictions to take part in the two-day instructor course.

Live scenarios will be conducted Monday afternoon, allowing future instructors to see the different applications the pepperball gun will have for training and tactical operations.
