Aggravated Assault

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. September 4, 2003  The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office would like to thank concerned citizens residing in Birmingham Manor for their assistance yesterday in arrest of James Cameron.

On September 2, 2003, an alleged aggravated assault occurred in Birmingham Manor off of Birmingham Road. The suspect fled before deputies arrived at the scene. Deputies began looking for the suspect, known to carry weapons, which allegedly assault the victim.

On September 3, 2003 the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office received numerous calls from concerned residents in Birmingham Manor that a suspicious person was in their neighborhood. The person described matched the description of the suspect from the previous assault. Because of the severity of the charge stemming from the previous day, D/S Boyles, with the assistance of retired Fulton County Police Officer Aubrey Osteen, held the suspect at gunpoint and placed him into custody. The suspect, James Cameron, 31 years of age of Canton, Ga. is currently charged with Violation of Probation with other charges pending. Cameron is currently at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without a bond.
