Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. September 15, 2003 At approximately 4:00 pm., September 4, 2003, deputies from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit responded to a car crash on Highway 20 in front of the Wachovia Bank.
A green Explorer traveling westbound on Highway 20, struck a Harley Davidson Motorcycle, traveling eastbound on Highway 20. Preliminary investigation by the Traffic Enforcement Unit shows the green Explorer attempting to turn left into the Wachovia Bank when the vehicle struck the motorcycle. As Cherokee County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at the scene, CPR was being administered to the driver of the motorcycle.
The driver of the Harley Davidson, Cecil Venable, Jr., 49 years of age of Canton, Ga was transported to Northside Cherokee Hospital where he later died of injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Explorer, Pepper Harville, 19 years of age, of Dallas, Ga. was treated and released at the scene of the crash.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit has charged Harville with Failure to Yield and Vehicular Homicide in the 2nd degree.
