Cyclist Hit by Vehicle

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. October 18, 2003  At approximately 4:30 p.m. the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to Bells Ferry Road at Sixes Road regarding a cyclist being struck by a vehicle.

A 62-year-old male was riding his bicycle south of BridgeMill Avenue on Bells Ferry Road. The cyclist was attempting to make a left hand turn into the parking lot of CVS Pharmacy when he failed to see an oncoming Chevy Tahoe and was struck in the head by the vehicle's mirror. The male suffered serious head injury as a result and was subsequently ground transported to Kennestone Hospital where he is awaiting transportation to Cobb General Hospital.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the crash.
