Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. October 29, 2003 At approximately 12:00 p.m. Sheriff's deputies and detectives from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop on Highway 20 at Hube Turner Road. The traffic stop resulted in Joseph Brian Crowe being placed back into custody and the discovery of a mobile methamphetamine lab. Detectives have been following up on leads since Crowe's accidental release on Sunday October 26, 2003, when Joseph Brian Crowe, 24 years old of Canton, Ga was mistakenly released from the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. There were two inmates with the same last name being held in the inmate population. A Deputy went to release an inmate with the last name of Crowe that was in the facility for a weekend sentence when another inmate with the last name of Crowe, that was being held in the facility for drug related charges, was released.
Crowe is being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with additional drug charges and escape.
