Fire Investigation

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. October 29, 2003  On October 23, 2003, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Cherokee County Fire-EMA responded to a structure fire at 1986 Tripp Road.

When Cherokee County Public Safety personnel responded to the residence the structure was fully engulfed in flames. Investigators learned the residence still contained some personal effects, but has been abandoned for a few years. The fire completely destroyed the residence.

The Cherokee County Fire-EMA and the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office are investigating the fire and would ask anyone with information regarding the fire is urged to contact Fire Investigator Ossie DeLay at 770-479-5172 or the Arson Hotline at 1-800-282-5804 where all information will remain confidential. Georgia Arson Control is currently offering a reward of up to $10,000 is available for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the fire.
