Arrest

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. January 30, 2004  The Cherokee County Homicide Task Force with the assistance of the United States Marshall's Office has arrested the third suspect wanted in connection with the murder of Betty Robinson. The murder occurred September 21, 2003 when Mrs. Robinson, 67 years of age, was shot and killed during a drive by shooting at her home. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Homicide Task Force was able to track Carter to Raleigh, NC where the U.S. Marshall's Office placed him into custody at a local bus station. Carter is being held at the Wake County Jail awaiting extradition.

The Homicide Task Force was formed after two Hispanic males were found murdered on Christmas night. The task force has made eleven arrests in two murder cases with six of those arrests are for Felony Murder. Detectives will now turn their attention to the two remaining unsolved homicides: Katie Hamlin whose body was found in the woods off of Kemp Road in SW Cherokee and Allison McCollum who was shot in her apartment at Cherokee Summit Apartments.
