Update on Arrest in Aggravated Assault

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. June 28, 2004  On June 26, 2004, at approximately 9:30 p.m. detectives from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to Cherokee County's Fire Department Station 1 on Bells Ferry Road regarding a person that had been stabbed at Shadowood Mobile Home Park. Detectives obtained information that the victim, Shawn Brusseau, 19 years of age of Woodstock, Ga was allegedly abducted, robbed and stabbed three times earlier that evening. Brousseau's was transported to Kennestone Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On June 27, 2004, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit arrested: Michael Chesser, 49 years of age of Canton and Laura Simpkins, 35 years of age of Canton with charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and false imprisonment. Chesser and Simpkins are currently being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without a bond.

On June 28, 2004, detectives arrested the final two suspects: Shirley Bunch, 54 years of age of Canton and Michael Bordelon, 43 years of age of Canton, Ga on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and false imprisonment. Bunch and Bordelon are currently being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without a bond.
