Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. June 29, 2004 The Cherokee Sheriff's Office will conduct a 4th of July Holiday traffic enforcement effort beginning Friday, July 1, 2004. Deputies assigned to other duties will assist the Traffic Enforcement Unit throughout the holiday weekend focusing their efforts on speed violations and DUI. The special enforcement detail will end Sunday night. Sheriff Roger Garrison encourages safe driving habits and points to the 8 fatality car crashes the Sheriff's office has already investigated this year, as to the reason for the stepped up enforcement.
