Press Release
A Child is Missing Call

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. October 4, 2004   On October 2, 2004 at approximately 5:20 pm, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a three and a half year old child that had been missing for approximately one hour. In response to a rise in child abductions in the United States, Sheriff Roger Garrison trained his deputies to utilize, A Child is Missing, a non-profit agency used to assist in locating missing children by making hundreds of phone calls in the immediate area in the first few minutes. In a five-minute period more than 900 phone calls were made and contact was made with 80% of the community. Fortunately the child was located a short period later with a neighbor.
