Hickory Flat, Cherokee County, Ga. October 7, 2004 The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office responded to 960 Steeple Chase Road regarding a juvenile that had possibly been shot. Deputies received information from the father at the residence that he had recently purchased a 22-caliber pistol. The father was practicing shooting the weapon when he shot a round in the air not realizing his child was down an embankment of the backyard. According to investigators, the juvenile received a wound from a ricochet of the 22-caliber bullet. The incident has been determined an accident and no charges are expected.
