Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. January 3, 2005 The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit conducted its annual Holiday Traffic Enforcement detail, which started December 31, 2004 and ended January 2, 2005. The detail consisted of the Traffic Enforcement Unit and Reserve Deputies from the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.
The main focus of the holiday enforcement was to keep the highways safe for everyone. Increased patrol efforts and stationary road checks resulted in 26 arrests including 8 for Driving Under the Influence. Deputies issued more than 70 citations during the holidays for speeding and other violations during the three-day detail.
