Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. January 3, 2005 At approximately 4:00 p.m. the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office responded to Highway 92 at Robin Road regarding a hit and run accident. Deputies were able to get a description of the vehicle that fled the scene and put a “Be on the Lookout” (BOLO) over the dispatched radio. A patrol unit was in the area of Kellogg Creek Road at Woodstock Road when he located the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle did not yield to the patrol car. Another patrol unit was working a crash at Woodstock Road and Kemp Road when he deployed stop sticks in the road in an attempt to stop the fleeing vehicle. The fleeing vehicle ran over the stop sticks and came to a stop at Woodstock Road and Oak Grove Road where the suspect got out of the vehicle and ran across the street on foot. The deputy foot pursued the suspect through Rolling Green Cemetery. An employee at the cemetery witnessed the foot pursuit and moved his vehicle in the roadway to block the suspect from getting away from the deputy. The suspect ran into the vehicle. The suspect, Juan Paul McClure, 39 years of age of Jasper, Ga. was ground transported to Cartersville Medical Hospital.
Charges are pending the investigation.
