Arrest in Alleged Kidnapping

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. February 3, 2005  On February 2, 2005, at approximately 9:00 p.m. The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 471 Arnold Mill Road regarding a vehicle driving recklessly with a possible domestic dispute occurring in the vehicle.

A witness to the incident was driving eastbound on Arnold Mill when he got behind a vehicle that was traveling approximately 20 miles an hour and then came to a complete stop in the middle of the road. The witness noticed the female victim had been struggling with the driver in the vehicle and when they came to a stop, the witness was able to talk to the victim and get the correct information to Cherokee 911. Deputies responded to the vehicle stopped in the road and attempted to assist the driver who was unresponsive. The driver finally became responsive to the deputies and was immediately combative. Deputies were able to restrain the driver and place him into custody. The driver was transported to Kennestone Hospital for medical attention.

Justin McCurdy, 26 years of age of Woodstock, Ga is charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (DUI), Possession with Intent to Distribute, False Imprisonment, and three counts of Felony obstruction. McCurdy is currently being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a bond set at $34,956.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the incident.
