Acworth, Cherokee County, Ga. February 3, 2005 At approximately 9:15am on February 3, 2005, Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Detectives arrested Phillip Jones, Jr., 29 years of age, Acworth, Ga and Constance Grace Davis, 32 years of age, Acworth, Ga. Jones and Davis are each charged with Cruelty to Children 1st degree.
The investigation began Monday evening, January 31, 2005, when a local youth minister contacted the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office through Cherokee 911. The child had sought refuge at the youth minister’s home.
The minister appropriately called for assistance from Law Enforcement and reported suspected instances of child abuse by the child’s mother and her fiancé.
Jones is being held at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center without a bond because of an outstanding warrant in another jurisdiction. Davis is also being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a bond set at $22,100.
