Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. February 11, 2005 On February 8, 2005, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office received information that an enclosed trailer with $50,000 worth of tools and $10,000 cash had been taken from the parking lot of Hamilton Inn, located on Wade Green Road. The trailer was located later that evening in Cobb County without any suspect leads to the incident. On February 11, 2005, officers in Humphrey’s Tennessee initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle, which ended up being purchased with the money originally taken from the theft in Cherokee County. The two suspects in the vehicle admitted to stealing the trailer and cash out of Cherokee County. They also told officers in Tennessee that they sold the tools taken from the trailer in the amount of $24,000. At the time of the arrest the suspects were in possession of $27,000 cash. The suspects arrested are:
Vernon Evans, 27 years of age of Paris, Tn. is charged in Cherokee County with 2 counts of felony Theft by Taking. Evans is currently being held in Tennessee awaiting extradition.
Robert Foss, 36 years of age of Canton, Ga is charged in Cherokee County with 2 counts of felony theft by taking. Foss is also being held in Tennessee awaiting extradition.
