Arrest of Registered Sex Offender

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. February 23, 2005   Detectives with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office arrested Ralph Dale Craycraft, Jr., 49 years of age, Acworth, Ga. Craycraft is charged with Violation of the Georgia Sexual Offender Registry- Failure to Register.

Detectives received information on February 10, 2005 of Craycraft’s intent to move into Cherokee County. Further investigation revealed that Craycraft had been a resident in his Acworth home since April 2004 and had not registered his residency as required.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office diligently enforces Sexual Offender Registry laws in the interest of protecting the public. Sexual offenders are required under Georgia law to register their residence and work address within 10 days of release or change of address. Failure to comply with this requirement is a felony violation.
