Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. June 6, 2005 At approximately 6:00 pm on June 6, 2005 the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit responded to Interstate 575 southbound in between the exits of Howell Bridge Road and Airport Drive regarding a fatal car crash.
Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a Honda, Jonathan Webb, 24-years-of-age of Canton, Ga improperly changed lanes crashing into a Ford F-150 driven by 58-year-old, Jeff Purdue of Acworth, Ga. Purdue died at the scene of the crash. Webb received minor injuries and was ground transported to Northside Cherokee Hospital. The release of the names took a few days due to family notifications.
The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the crash.
