Fourth of July Holiday Traffic Enforcement

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. July 5, 2005  On Friday July 2, 2005 the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office kicked off its annual Fourth of July Holiday traffic enforcement detail. The purpose of the traffic detail is to establish a concentrated patrol for the July 4th holiday. This holiday is best known for motorist traveling at high rates of speed and driving under the influence of alcohol. The detail ended Monday, July 4, 2005 with a total of 12 physical arrests. Four of the arrests made were for the offense of Driving Under the Influence.

Seventy-six citations were written for speeding. A total of 276 traffic stops were made with 114 citations and 173 warnings issued.
