Hoax Device

Ball Ground, Cherokee County, Ga. July 6, 2005   A hoax device kept Public Safety officials busy for most of Wednesday morning after city workers spotted a device in a junked vehicle used by the fire department personnel for extrication training. Eric Wilmargh, the City Manager of Ball Ground, notified Cherokee County 911 and advised of the suspicious looking device. The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office notified The Cobb County Bomb Squad, ATF and FBI and asked for assistance in disrupting the device, The Cobb County Bomb Squad was able to determine there was no explosive material in the device and as indeed it was a hoax device.
