Serious Injury Vehicle Crash on I-575

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. July 25, 2005  On July 23, at approximately 9:00 p.m. the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit responded to a serious injury vehicle crash.

A Gold Tahoe and a red Sonoma were traveling north on Interstate 575 when the Tahoe crashed into the red Sonoma. The Tahoe went over the median and ended up blocking the southbound lanes of traffic on the Interstate at the Rope Mill Road bridge. The driver of the Tahoe, Paul Schmidt of Woodstock, Ga received serious injury and was air-ambulanced to Grady Memorial Hospital. The driver of the red Sonoma did not receive any serious injury.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the crash.
